The Chamber Choir St. Sigfrid is a mixed choir consisting of some 30 members from Växjö. We are one of Växjo Cathedrals choirs. We are singing on sunday services and often in connection with Christian festivals such as Christmas and Easter, as well as consecration of priests and deacons.
In addition to church services, we have a very varied program. The Chamber Choir St. Sigfrid also gives concerts on our own but also in collaboration with other choirs, musicians and sometimes dancers.
In autumn 2005, The Chamber Choir St. Sigfrid had a concert with the Fauré requiem. The concert was performed with choreography both by the choir and students from Kronobergs folkhögskola under the direction of Sara Wåhlin.
The Chamber Choir has also been contracted for singing at weddings and birthdays.
We have repeatedly appeared in official contexts. In spring of 2009 we sang together with Charlotte Perelli in the Water inauguration on the festival Vårstad Växjö.
From Lema Sabachtani to Immeasurable, we praise you!
Chamber has also been involved in several premiere of newly written works. A few years ago we sang the mass Lema Sabachtani, a work written by Ola Salo.
We have also been singing in cooperation with Växjö University's vocal ensemble the jazz pianist Elise Einarsdotter newly written love poetry.
In connection with the inauguration of the Linnaeus anniversary 2007, we performed together with musicians from Växjö and the world famous pianist Ola Salos symphonic work Linnaeus Rex for the first time. We have had the privilege to re-familiarize with the work when we together with musicians from different parts of Småland performed it together with Per Tengstrand again in connection with the Linneuniversity's inauguration in February 2010.
In 2008 The Chamber Choir St. Sigfrid made acquaintance with the doctor and musician Mats Falk and then we had the privilege to work with many famous musicians from Småland when we performed Mats Falk's newly written chamber cantata Immeasurable, we praise You!. The Chamber Choir St. Sigfrid made acquaintance with the chamber cantata in 2009 when we perfomed it again in a consert in Allahelgona Church in Lund.
Drivkraft - songs and talks that concerns
In cooperation with the Pastor Leif Adolfsson the Chamber Choir St. Sigfrid over the past years have had concerts with special invited guests. In a varied program songs from the choir have been mixed with a discussion between Leif Adolfsson and tonight's guest. The guests at Drivkraft has been Mats Falk, Carl-Axel Hageskog, Kristina Alséer, Carolina Klüft, Johan Wester, Sven Thidevall and Lisa Syrén.
Fun with the Chamber Choir St. Sigfrid
Community is important for the choir. To promote this, we meet occasionally private. In autumn 2006, we were on a trip to Gothenburg when we were listning to a concert in Scandinavium and made a guest performances in Gothenburg Cathedral.
2008, we traveled to Stockholm and went to the musical Singing in the Rain. On Sunday, we participated as guest choir in the Royal Chapel service.
In autumn 2009 the Chamber Choir St. Sigfrid traveled to Iceland which was a fantastic experience.
